The City of Long Beach Homeless Count is a public/private partnership between the City of Long Beach and many local residents, businesses, and community organizations. Under the direction of the
Department of Health and Human Services, more than 100 community volunteers have already come together to plan this unique local event. In addition, the
Institute for Urban Research and Development has been selected as a consulting agency to help ensure success.
Homeless Count is a Huge Success!
The street-based and service-based count was a huge success yesterday thanks to community involvement. There were 62 three-person teams that spent the day counting homeless persons on the streets. In addition, there were more than 100 programs implementing the service-based count. All together, more than 300 individuals gathered data throughout the day.
Do not forgot to continue to visit our web site for updates concerning the count. Our next step is to implement a 100+ question survey.
