The County of Riverside is Counting on You!

We need an army of volunteers to assist with conducting a thorough and accurate homeless count throughout the County.

Volunteers are needed from every community and from all walks of life including:

Municipal employees

Social Service providers

Colleges and Universities

Faith-based institutions

Community Service Clubs

Business and Neighborhood Associations

Board members and other volunteers with Non-profit agencies

Currently and formerly homeless individuals

Volunteers are needed before the day-of-the-count to:

help organize the count in your community

promote community awareness of the count

help identify locations where homeless people can be found

enlist other volunteers to help complete the count

Volunteers are needed on the day-of-the-count to:

participate on street-counter teams

help conduct the count at social service locations

to assist with phone calls and collecting count data

transporting count volunteers to assigned locations throughout the county

Street-counter volunteers will be organized into teams of two or three people made up of a currently or formerly homeless individual, a social service provider (including law enforcement and municipal employees) and a community volunteer. Each team will be dispatched to pre-determined street locations to conduct the count. All team members will be provided with an identifying bright-colored Everybody Counts t-shirt and items needed to conduct the enumeration.

Social Service location volunteers will include staff members and community volunteers who are assigned to conduct the count at pre-determined social service locations. Volunteers are also needed to assist at community-based and regional headquarters locations on the day of the count to help with answering phones, dispatching volunteers, collecting data reports, organizing supplies, etc.
