The Role of Key Persons

Key persons are needed to successfully complete the homeless count. A key person is someone who is knowledgeable about local homelessness and able to build relationships between businesses, residents, and community agencies that are concerned about homelessness and its impacts upon the city.

Key persons include representatives of local government, social service agencies, outreach programs, law enforcement and others who can assist with the following tasks:

• identifying residential and non-residential homeless service providers in their communities and provide contact information;
  
  
• identifying service providers, faith-based institutions and others who provide assistance to homeless people in their community and provide contact information;
  
  
• identifying local community-based organizations, universities, faith-based institutions and others to recruit volunteers to help conduct the count and survey;
  
  
• identifying encampments and other places where homeless people can be found in their community;
  
  
• assist with conducting the street-based and service-based count during the designated point-in-time;
  
  
• assist with identifying participants and conducting the comprehensive one-on-one interview survey.
  

We need your immediate help to review all pertinent information (i.e. list of homeless encampments, list of homeless residential programs, list of homeless non-residential programs) to help make the homeless count successful. In addition, we need you to help promote community awareness of the count throughout the city.
